Access to information
Access to personal information
The Social Work Department keeps records about all its service users. We consider these records to be confidential and keep them securely. You do, however, have a right to see any personal information held about you. This is a requirement of the Data Protection Act 1998 and part of our Open Access policy. If you would like access to your files, contact us as follows:
- if a Social Worker or other member of staff is already in contact with you, please ask them for access to your files.
- if you are not in touch with a member of staff, contact your local Social Work office.
More information is available in our Access to Files leaflet (pdf 60.1kb).
Freedom of Information
Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, you have the right to ask for and to be given information from all public authorities in Scotland. If we hold the information you request, we must supply it to you as long as it is not subject to the exemptions of the Act.
