If you have any questions or queries, please email.

Local Plan Inquiry

The Inquiry was chaired by two Reporters from the Scottish Executive and heard evidence in January 2007 on Newtown St Boswells.  The Reporters' findings are due during summer 2007 and Scottish Borders Council will then need to consider these findings.  It is anticipated that this process, together with the preparation of any final Local Plan for adoption by the Council, may give a date for formal adoption towards the end of 2007.

Auction Mart

The Council has prepared a Planning Brief for the redevelopment of the existing Newtown St Boswells Auction Mart. A Planning Brief is a Supplementary Planning Guidance document which sits within the context of the Local Plan and summarises the Planning Authority's guidelines and requirements for the development of a particular site or collection of sites.  The Finalised Local Plan, referred to above, shows the Auction Mart within the settlement boundary of Newtown St Boswells, safeguarded under policy BE10 - Newtown St Boswells Expansion Safeguarding.  The Brief provides the framework for current and future planning applications to be considered.
