    A fairly strenuous 9 mile/14km hike over White Meldon and returning along the River Tweed. A chance to see a good variety of wildlife. Total climb 1000ft/300m.

    I Create, the arts resource unit at Lanark Lodge Day Support Services in Duns are holding a summer arts festival from 8-13 September.  The event aims to showcase creativity and bring together artwork from individuals and groups from across the Borders, particularly those who use support services. The theme is 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'. Events include:

    Follow the Southern Upland Way, between the "double dykes", in the footsteps of our ancestors on this ancient route. A chance to see a variety of wildlife and views of the Scottish Borders.  A total distance of 10 miles/16km, with a climb of 570ft/175m.

    Walk this section of the Borders Abbeys Way over Black Law to Bedrule and Denholm, then following the River Teviot. A good opportunity to see a variety of wildlife. A total distance of 14½ miles/23km, total ascent 1,150ft/350m.
  • Borders Abbeys Way - Jedburgh to Denholm
    Where: Denholm, Denholm
    When: Sunday, August 3 2008 10:00 - 15:00
    A shorter section of the Jedburgh to Hawick walk may be done (8 miles/13km with a total ascent of 1,150ft/350m). This walk with the same group as the Jedburgh to Hawick walk but finishing earlier in Denholm.
