Scottish Borders Council Review of Community Council's Scheme
Introduction
The revised scheme was adopted by Scottish Borders Council on 13th December 2007 following a 14 week consultation period.
In 1997 Scottish Borders Council, in accordance with the terms of Section 22 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, adopted a Scheme for the establishment of Community Councils within the Scottish Borders Council area. This revoked the Schemes made by the former Berwickshire, Ettrick and Lauderdale, Roxburgh and Tweeddale District Councils, with effect from midnight on 31 March 1997.
The Council’s Corporate Improvement Plan 2006-2007 identified the need to review the Scheme and has assigned a completion date to the process of 31 August 2007.
The Group will lead, facilitate and monitor the review of the current Community Council Scheme, and will report to Scottish Borders Council and the Scottish Borders Community Councils’ Network. The group will cease to exist once the revised scheme has been produced and adopted.
