A7 Road Closure – Emergency Bus Service

Friday, July 18 2008

The road closure on the A7 south of Langholm has forced the First bus service X95 between Edinburgh, Galashiels, Selkirk, Hawick and Carlisle to terminate at Langholm due to the lack of a suitable alternative route for the size of vehicle which normally operates on this service.

Until the road can be re-opened, Scottish Borders Council has joined forces with Dumfries and Galloway Council to arrange a limited connecting service using smaller 25 seat buses.

Operated by Anderson’s of Langholm and Dumfries and Galloway Council, buses leave Langholm for Carlisle at 0925, 1040, 1240, 1340, 1540 and 1850, Monday to Saturday.

Northbound, buses leave Carlisle for Langholm at 1110, 1210, 1410, 1510, 1710 and 2050. From Saturday 19 July, an additional bus will run leaving Langholm for Carlisle at 0735 returning from Carlisle at 0910.

A Sunday service, provided by Peter Hogg of Jedburgh in conjunction with Scottish Borders Council, will run between Hawick and Carlisle as follows:

Hawick, Mart Street 10.05 12.05 16.05 18.05
