No breach of councillors’ code of conduct

Friday, July 25 2008

Scottish Borders Council can confirm that no action is to be taken against the Council Leader, Councillor David Parker, following a complaint to the Standards Commission for Scotland.

Following a recent complaint which was lodged by a Borders resident, the Chief Investigating Officer has confirmed in a letter to Councillor Parker that no action is going to be taken as regards the complaint as Councillor Parker had not breached the Councillors' Code of Conduct in any way.

Councillor Parker said: “I am delighted that this complaint has been rejected. There was no foundation or evidence to support this complaint and I am very pleased that the initial consideration of the complaint has found that I acted entirely correctly in discharging my duties and that my actions did not conflict with the Code in any way.”

It has also been confirmed that no action will be taken against Councillor Sandy Aitchison relating to the same complaint.
