Festival to reveal ‘shocking’ Gala secrets

Monday, August 11 2008

Galashiels is set to play host to the 2008 Scottish Borders Festival of Walking.

This year’s festival, from 30 August to 6 September, will be the largest Borders walking event to date, offering a range of guided walks for all ages and abilities. Fifty walks will take place throughout the Moorfoots, Lammermuirs and Cheviot hill ranges and the Yarrow, Ettrick and Tweed valleys.

In addition, the event offers a diverse range of entertainment in the evenings including a traditional song and story night, film night, ghost evening, quiz and grand ceilidh. There are also previously unknown eerie secrets that will be revealed during an exploration of Old Gala House and its gardens which may prove shocking – but only those who attend will find out!

Bookings are now being taken for all walks and entertainment.

For full details of the programme, register with VisitScotland on 0870 608 0404 (option 1) or visit any local Scottish Borders Tourist Information Centre.
