Wall repairs start on closed road
Monday, November 3 2008
A wall in Huddersfield Street, Galashiels, is to be repaired after it collapsed in August
The Council took immediate action to close the road after the incident and erected concrete barriers and security fencing to protect pedestrians.
Work will start on Tuesday (4 November) and will take five to six weeks to complete. It will be carried out by SBcContracts, Scottish Borders Council’s construction contractor.
The road will remain closed while the site is cleared and foundations are put in, but the situation will be assessed as the work progresses and will be re-opened as soon as the area is completely safe
The Council would like to thank users of Huddersfield Street for their patience and understanding while the street has been closed.
