Walks in and around towns

The Scottish Borders provides many opportunities for outdoor recreation including walking, cycling, horse-riding and water-sports activities. You can gain further information on various shorter walks by downloading information from the links below or by contacting Scottish Borders Council or VisitScotland Borders.

Town Trails

The Trails generally start in the town centres and will take about 1-2 hours to complete. In some towns interpretation boards mark the start of the Trail and all trails have a series of plaques on buildings along the route. Select from the list below to download a pdf.

A number of the Trails are currently being revised and new leaflets should be available shortly.

Easy Access

The Ranger Service has also been working with the Ability Centre, Galashiels to update the list of places to visit with easy access. This external website gives information on some of the parts of the Borders countryside which can be visited by wheelchair users.
