Arriving by road from the south

From the south, we suggest you plan your route to arrive on any of the following roads:

A7 from Carlisle, visiting:

  • Hawick where you can take the A698 for Kelso and the eastern Borders and the picturesque Berwickshire coast or the A6088 for Kielder, the Cheviot Hills and Newcastle
  • Selkirk where you can take the A708 for the Yarrow Valley and the Tweedsmuir Hills
  • Galashiels where you can take the A72 towards Peebles and the Pentland Hills or stay on the A7 to the Moorfoot Hills and Edinburgh

A68 from Newcastle, visiting:

  • Carter Bar border where you can take the A6088 for Hawick and the Craik Forest
  • Jedburgh, where you can take the A698 to Kelso and the eastern Borders and the Berwickshire coast
  • St Boswells where you can take the A699 west to Selkirk, the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys and the Tweedsmuir Hills
  • Newtown St Boswells where you can take the A6091 to Galashiels, Peebles and the western Borders or stay on the A68 for access to the Lammermuir Hills and Edinburgh

A1 from Newcastle visiting:

  • Burnmouth where you can take the A1107 to Eyemouth, Coldingham, St Abbs and the Berwickshire coast
  • Grantshouse where you can take the A6112 to Duns, the eastern Borders and Lammermuir Hills
